High Performance

High Performance Pathways

Every State and Territory throughout Australia conduct programs for sub elite developing athletes. 

These High Performance programs support young athletes of potential who have the skill and commitment to accelerate opportunities along their basketball development journey.

Basketball Northern Territory lead and administers 4 programs (2 for Boys and 2 for Girls) aimed at athletes who are committed to developing their basketball skills and have shown potential to be selected as a future Northern Territory representative player.

TERRITORY PERFORMANCE PROGRAM (TPP) UNDER 18s

The TPP is a program for identified male and female athletes that are turning 16 or 17 of a given calendar year.  Trials for this program are usually held in September/October.  Once selected athletes are subjected to twice weekly sessions and weekend camps that assist the developing athlete in all areas of the game both on and off the court.

The TPP is delivered in 3 distinct blocks of 2-3 months.  Block 1 - Individual and small group skill development.  Block 2 - Team principles and representative team preparation.  Block 3 - representative tournament attendance.  All athletes selected to the TPP will represent the Northern Territory at either the U18 Australian Junior Championships or a U18 regional tournament such as the South Australian Country Championships.

TERRITORY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (TDP) UNDER 16s

The TDP is a program for identified male and female athletes that are turning 14 or 15 of a given calendar year.  Trials for this program are usually held in February.  Once selected athletes are subjected to twice weekly sessions and weekend camps that assist the developing athlete in all areas of the game both on and off the court.

The TDP is also delivered in 3 distinct blocks of 2-3 months.  Block 1 - Individual and small group skill development.  Block 2 - Team principles and representative team preparation.  Block 3 - representative tournament attendance.  All athletes selected to the TDP will represent the Northern Territory at either the U16 Australian Junior Championships or a U16 regional tournament such as the South Australian Country Championships.

TERRITORY ACADEMY PROGRAM (TAP) UNDER 14s

The TAP is a program for the development of participants turning 12 or 13 in a given calendar year.  The first 2 semesters of this program is offered to any player of age keen to develop their skills in a fun and encouraging environment.  The program also aims to develop and identify players who may have the potential to represent the Darwin Cyclones Australian Club Championships representative team in October.

TERRITORY FUTURES PROGRAM (TFP) UNDER 12s

TFP is a program for the development of participants turning 10 or 11 in a given calendar year.  The program centers on the development of the fundamentals of the game in a fun and engaging environment.
